The students come from all over Japan. All freshmen must spend their first year at the main Sagamihara campus. Afterwards, some departments continue their studies on a different campus.
Many of the students must prepare for and pass the national licensing examinations in order to be a practicing professional in their own field. Unlike the U.S., undergraduate students begin their 4 or 6 (or more) years of professional medical and health sciences education from their freshmen year.
