Courses

Our university is a medical, health and life sciences university. The main campus is in Sagamaihara,  less than one hour by train from central Tokyo.  There are a total of seven  colleges  at  Kitasato  University  Sagamihara  campus.
The students come from all over Japan.  All freshmen must spend their first year at the main Sagamihara campus. Afterwards, some departments continue their studies on a different campus.
Many of the students must prepare for and pass the national licensing examinations  in order to be a practicing professional in their own field.   Unlike the U.S., undergraduate students begin their 4 or 6 (or more) years of professional medical and health sciences education from their freshmen year.

  •   College of Medicine

  •   College of Nursing
  •   College of Veterinary and Animal Life Sciences

  •   College of Science

We  also  have  three  more  campuses  in  Shirogane (downtown Tokyo), Towada (Aomori Prefecture)  and  Sanriku (Iwate Prefecture), where the upper class students the Colleges of Pharmacy, Veterinary, and Marine Biology continue their major studies.

Because of the March 11 2011 Earthquake and Tsunami Disaster, our Sanriku campus in Iwate is not being used at this time. While it was not damaged, the town nearby were severely damaged by the tsunami. So all the students and faculty from Sanriku campus (College of Marine Biosciences) are studying at the Sagamihara campus.
